Today, Ferrum will be at home to welcome the Battling Bishops from North Carolina Wesleyan. Right off of the bat, there are two important announcements about this game:
1. ADMISSION IS FREE TO EVERYONE!!!!! The college athletics department has announced that today's game is free to anyone who wants to attend.
2. The start time for today's game has been moved to 4p.m. It was originally slated for a 6p.m. start, but the change was made due to possible inclement weather in the area.
Now for the game-
Ferrum is coming off a hard-fought loss to Muskingum last Saturday. While I was not surprised in some respects, I saw many positives in their effort. The Bishops are coming off a 51-9 walloping from #15 Randolph-Macon. It's difficult to gauge the Bishops performance as this was such a lopsided affair, but in looking at the stats, it would appear that the run defense of Wesleyan may be their weak link. The problem with that is if you look at last week's game for Ferrum, the Panthers rushing attack seemed to be their weak link.
This should be an interesting contest. Look for Ferrum to turn it up in pretty much all aspects of the game and secure their first win of the season. It will be a close game, possibly even an overtime contest.
I think Ferrum will have worked on their running game this week, and you will see it open up, but they will mostly rely of the arm, and legs of Hughes. It should be a fun one to watch....at least it is at a bargain price.
