Looking back-Looking Ahead

As we have finished the half way point in the regular season, this past weekend seemed to provide as many questions as answers.

Maryville, defeated what appeared to be a strong Greensboro team, and did it convincingly..
Averett who Ferrum defeated with no problem, beat LaGrange
Methodist defeated a struggling North Carolina Wesleyan team
and Ferrum, fell to CNU.

I picked Maryville to finish third in the conference, but had lost some confidence in them recently. Conversely, Greensboro has really looked strong. I picked Greensboro in this game, but Maryville prevailed.

Averett travelled to Georgia to take on the LaGrange Panthers. After watching the Cougars struggle at the very least against Ferrum, I felt like the home team had a definite advantage. Not as easy as I thought...Averett got their first conference win.

Methodist defeated what appears to be a rebuilding North Carolina Wesleyan team, but the Monarchs seem to have a good core of talent. Methodist also defeated Guilford earlier, and have had bright moments throughout their season. They have a strong passing offense, and the top ranked rushing defense in the conference. This team could have a chance to make a run at the conference crown.

So last week, I was 2-2. missing the Maryville win as well as the Averett win at LaGrange. Every road team won last Saturday, except one....yep, Ferrum. but the Panthers will return to Adams field for homecoming this weekend, and host North Carolina Wesleyan. Here is how I see this week shaping up:

Averett @ Greensboro

Maryville @ Methodist

N. C. Wesleyan14 @ Ferrum 41

LaGrange @ CNU
