Depending upon which poll you believe, Ferrum is either playing the 16th or 18th ranked team in the country in Randolph-Macon College. The Yellow Jackets are undefeated and averaging 44.3 ppg, and only giving up 13.6 points per game. I had fully intended to be at this game, but I did not plan on getting this upper respiratory crud that is going around, so I will be limited to the internet broadcast again.
This may be the toughest challenge of the year for Ferrum, yes including UVA Wise. I wish I could be more positive in my outlook, but Ferrum is not where I thought they would be, and Randolph-Macon is pretty much a football game winning machine. Ferrum can expect to see a tough running game by R-MC, and most of those rushing duties will fall on Kwesi Clark. Clark has run the ball 104 times for 704 yards. If Clark is not carrying the ball, it could be in the hands of any of 4 other running backs that see plenty of time with the pigskin.
The quarterback for R-MC is Drew Campanale who has a completion percentage of 78.9% and has thrown for 17 touchdowns. Overall, the Yellow Jackets are a very complete team, and as a Ferrum fan, and taking into account the previous 8 games, Ferrum could be in for a pretty long day. If they are to contend, it will take flawless football. They will have to control time of possession, create and capitalize on turnovers, and stop the Jackets offense on many three and outs.
Well, on the bright side, the weather will be perfect to take in a football game, no matter what side of the stadium you are on.
Go Panthers!
